Thanksgiving

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

We went up in the mountains on the Thanksgiving week. We stayed in a cabin at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch. Snow had just fallen and we were able to do some cross country skiing, it was good fun. Me and my father were also able to play some hockey on the small ice rink they have, the ice rink had just opened. There is lots to do, they also have basketball, indoor roller skating, a pool and some table games you can play. Winterpark is also very close by for some good snowboarding. All in all a good fun, we only stayed for 3 nights, next time I think we will stay a bit longer.

Snowgun

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

My father and I are getting tired of waiting for snow, it’s almost Christmas but no snow yet. There seems to be plenty of snow in the mountains however none here in Boulder. Therefor we decided to make our own snow and we put together a Snowgun, you can see me testing it below. Now we just need a cold front to make actual snow.

Vince visit, Feb 2009

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Vince and his father Ralph came for a visit last weekend from Washington DC.  It was great to see him, we hit the slopes and we snowboarded for the whole weekend.  We were really lucky that the weather held up, sunny and no wind on Saturday.  On Sunday we got a little bit of a fresh powder snow on top.  Great weekend, then we drove them to the airport on Monday.  Hopefully Vince and his father can stay longer next time, I’m looking forward to 2010 !

Could be white

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Here is to my yearly mention of the Icelandic santas.  You see they start arriving a little sooner than the American santa.  They don’t travel in packs, one by one they come of the mountains.  You can find a better description here.  It’s been snowing on and off here in Boulder but the snow doesn’t stick.  As it’s the usual one or two days of snow then it’s sunny again.  Who knows if we will get white xMas or not, wait and see.

Btw I just learned that my friend Vincent in DC might make it for some snowboarding in February, that would be really cool.  I will be able to show him my favorite spots here in Colorado.
