Snowboarding

Monday, February 15th, 2010

My father and I took a small vacation last week to Snowboard.  We stayed at ThorAnna’s winter share in Breckenridge.  It was great, we Snowboarded for a few days at Loveland and Copper mountain.   We found some powder snow at both places.  Simply put we had a blast !  I’m now Snowboarding in the woods ( double black diamonds ) without any problems and love the moguls.   The mountains have not had as much snow as last year, but we are hopeful that will get better as it gets further into the season.  Then more routes should open up.  I know my father is also looking to see when Loveland pass will be doable for us.

Vince visit, Feb 2009

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Vince and his father Ralph came for a visit last weekend from Washington DC.  It was great to see him, we hit the slopes and we snowboarded for the whole weekend.  We were really lucky that the weather held up, sunny and no wind on Saturday.  On Sunday we got a little bit of a fresh powder snow on top.  Great weekend, then we drove them to the airport on Monday.  Hopefully Vince and his father can stay longer next time, I’m looking forward to 2010 !

Could be white

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Here is to my yearly mention of the Icelandic santas.  You see they start arriving a little sooner than the American santa.  They don’t travel in packs, one by one they come of the mountains.  You can find a better description here.  It’s been snowing on and off here in Boulder but the snow doesn’t stick.  As it’s the usual one or two days of snow then it’s sunny again.  Who knows if we will get white xMas or not, wait and see.

Btw I just learned that my friend Vincent in DC might make it for some snowboarding in February, that would be really cool.  I will be able to show him my favorite spots here in Colorado.

Snowboarding

My father and I went up to the local ski place this week.  Eldora was barely open, they had 2 lifts running and little snow.  It was enough to get that first one in.  Get used to the board again and the new boots which worked great.  The weather was perfect at 55F sunny and little wind.  It was a great winter season kick off day on the snowboard.

Ready for snow

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

The snow is starting to stick in the mountains.  My father and I went to the store to pick up a new pair of boots.  Since I grew out of the last pair.  We had to make a couple of adjustments to the snowboard setup to fit the bigger boots.  Nothing we couldn’t handle and then it was time to try out the new setup.
